Nihon Netsugen System Actively Promotes Industrial CO2 Condensing Units

Japanese OEM Nihon Netsugen System (NNS), a pioneer in CO2 (R744) refrigeration in Japan, exhibited its SUPER GREEN, an industrial CO2 refrigeration system.

SUPER GREEN systems are low-temperature transcritical CO2 condensing units aimed at the cold storage and food processing industries.

NNS has been actively developing the SUPER GREEN products, which comprises six series. Each series has two to seven size variations.

The number of SUPER GREEN units sold in Japan has reached more than 250, and by the end of the 2021 fiscal year, the company had expected to sell more than 350 units.

There are very few Japanese companies that can match NNS in its variety of CO2 systems, and NNS is highly regarded in the market for its aggressive product development, the company said.

CO2 dehumidification system under development

Yoshio Iwao, General Manager of the NNS Tokyo Sales Department, said that NNS is planning to develop a new system that can utilize exhaust heat generated from CO2 refrigeration units for dehumidification.

Cargo handling rooms in logistics warehouses are often exposed to the outside air, and humidity tends to rise. This creates potential problems such as mold formation, which reduces product freshness, and condensation, which makes products slippery.

The new system will be designed to control humidity with the heat generated by CO2 refrigeration units, so no extra energy would be needed.

“We hope to market the new system around 2023,” said Iwao.
