LG launches R32 single and multi splits
Following their debut at Mostra Convegno last month, LG has announced the UK launch of a range of single and multi split air conditioners operating on lower GWP refrigerant R32.
The new LG range line up of Smart inverter units offers external units from 4.1kW up to 18.7kW and internal units that include the Artcool Mirror, Deluxe, Standard and Standard Plus wall units, as well as the 4-way ceiling cassette, ceiling suspended units and ceiling concealed duct units.
The new units benefit from the increased efficiency of R32 to achieve SEER values up to 8.50 for the 4.1kW, 5.3kW and 6.2kW outdoor units, equating to A+++ levels and all the other units meet A++ standards. The use of a brushless direct current motor is said to offer additional energy savings of up to 40% at lower speeds, while LG’s Wide Louvre Plus Fin technology increases full load heating performance by 11% and 6% COP compared to conventional fin technology.
LG’s Smart Load Control technology allows the new units to save operational energy and automatically control the refrigerant temperature according to outside temperature. A mode lock function enables the setting for the system to be set to either heating only or cooling only.
The new external units feature twin rotary inverter compressors and corrosion-resistant Ocean Black Fin coating on the heat exchanger. A new axial fan design helps to reduce outdoor unit noise levels and improve efficiency still further, and a Night Silent Operation takes sound levels down to 46-48dB.
Dual sensing technology, using both temperature sensors and pressure sensors, is said to offer quicker response times of up to 30% in cooling and 44% in heating.
Controls
All units can be controlled by smartphones, providing a wide range of functions from simple on/off to mode selection, set temperature, to energy monitoring, filter management and even Smart diagnosis.
In addition to providing easy access to air conditioner error codes, engineers can use LG Monitoring View to inspect and monitor air conditioning units with ease. The status of wall mounted units can be monitored and problems diagnosed by connecting the unit to a Smart phone via a SIMS chip.
Indoor units
The internal, wall-mounted units offer a range of benefits including the inclusion of a plasma ioniser to eliminate odours and harmful substances. They also feature auto cleaning of the filter and operate at noise levels as low as 19dB.
The 4-way ceiling cassette unit offers independent vane operation making it possible to control all four vanes independently and a high ceiling mode – up to 4.2m. This unit also has the option of a human detect sensor.
The ceiling concealed duct units features a drain pump that automatically drains water up to 700mm of drain head height and features dual thermistors – one in the indoor unit and another in the remote controller.
The noise level of low static ducts have been reduce significantly even though the ESP has been increased. Sound levels are an impressive 27dB.
