Latest VZH scrolls bring seasonal efficiency gains

Danfoss has announced the third generation of its VZH variable speed scroll compressors, boosting their part load performance and operating maps.

While retaining the strengths of the previous version, the enhanced seasonal efficiency, and wider operating map is achieved by the inclusion of intermediate discharge valve (IDV) technology.

A complete line-up of models is available from 4 to 26TR (up to 52TR in hybrid tandems). The products are particularly suitable for comfort reversible applications and computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units.

Matthieu Stoll, Danfoss Cooling’s global marketing director A/C, said: “The introduction of IDVs in the large models means that there’s no longer a need for high- and low-pressure compressor optimisation – potentially halving inventory management requirements. And the wider operating map brings huge value for strategic applications. We can accelerate the changeover from older Danfoss inverter scrolls to the third generation seamlessly.”

Looking to the near future, multi-refrigerant capability is in the pipeline for the VZH range, including the lower GWP refrigerants R452B and R454B, and a version derived from VZH for R32.
