ASHRAE Announces Inaugural Course Schedule For New Global Training Center For Building Excellence In Dubai

ASHRAE announced today the inaugural course schedule for its new Global Training Center for Building Excellence in Dubai, with HVAC Design Essentials slated as the first planned training opportunity. The course will run from Sept. 10 – 13.

The creation of the ASHRAE Global Training Center was announced at the ASHRAE Annual Conference in Long Beach, Calif. in June. The focus of the center is to make curricula-based, region-specific training conveniently available on a regular schedule. The training offered in the center will be customized and scalable based upon climate, culture, suppliers, energy sources, prices, codes and construction practices. The center’s instructors are engineers familiar with the intricacies of the Middle East.

Additionally, the center will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 19. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The ASHRAE Global Training Center in Dubai is a tangible step toward our goal of extending our global community to better embrace our industry’s shared needs and objectives, says 2017-2018 ASHRAE President Bjarne W. Olesen. By creating this training center, our members in the Middle East will be more empowered to continue producing and sharing technical guidance worldwide while being better equipped to serve the needs of their local communities.

HVAC Design Essentials will feature training that provides participants with practical skills and knowledge to design and maintain HVAC systems. Participants will receive real-world examples of HVAC systems based on the renovated ASHRAE Headquarters and on buildings in the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) region. The training leaders for this course are Walid Chakroun, Ph.D., Fellow ASHRAE, and Donald Brandt, BEAP.

In addition to HVAC Design Essentials, the Global Training Center for Building Excellence will hold the following courses through the remainder of 2017 including:

  • Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems: Design & Applications – Oct. 15
  • Air-to-Air Heat Recovery Fundamentals & Applications – Oct. 16
  • Designing for IAQ: Complying with Requirements of Standard – Nov. 12
  • Standard 90.1: HVAC/Mechanical Design and Appendix G – Nov. 13
  • Commercial Building Energy Audits – Dec. 10
  • Commissioning Process in New & Existing Buildings – Dec. 11

All courses are eligible for Professional Development Hours (PDHs). Credits correspond to the hours of instruction. These credits are recognized by the ASHRAE Global Training Center for Building Excellence.
