Conference on “Sustainable Management of Refrigeration Technologies in Marine and Off-Shore Fisheries Sectors”, 6-8, April 2017, Bangkok, Thailand

With the support of Department of Industrial Works, Government of Thailand, UN Environment, ASHRAE, IIR and UNIDO are organising the first international conference on:

Sustainable Management of Refrigeration Technologies in Marine and Off-Shore Fisheries Sectors

Date: 6-8, April 2017
Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Brief overview:

In the recent Montreal Protocol Meetings there has been increasing interest and concern regarding the issue of alternatives to ozone-depleting substances for replacement and retrofit of refrigeration systems in fishing vessels, including in small island countries in the context of phasing out of HCFCs, while promoting the selection of alternatives that minimise environmental impacts, including on climate, health, safety and economic considerations.

This international conference will focus on the practices of the marine and fisheries industry in the management of refrigeration existing systems, longer term energy efficient systems, advancement and selection of related refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) technologies. In keeping with the ongoing developments of the Kigali HFC Amendment of the Montreal Protocol, the conference will also address approaches to eliminating/minimising the use of high-GWP HFCs. In addition, the conference will consider the relevant obligations under the Montreal Protocol as well as other international policies and governing treaties related to the Marine and Off-shore fishing sector.
