Chillventa 2016 once again sets new records

Following three exceptionally successful days with significant growth in display area and visitor numbers, Chillventa 2016 closed its doors. This year too, the event put its best foot forward. Trade visitors were up 5 percent over 2014, at a total 32,2061). As in previous years, exhibitor numbers remained high, with a total of 9821) companies participating. This year the growth in display area was particularly impressive, having increased by 13 percent compared with the previous event. On the day before the trade fair, the Chillventa CONGRESS impressed the professional community of 260 delegates and presenters from 31 countries with its high-calibre programme and first class speakers from all over the world.

On this, its fifth appearance, Chillventa once again turned the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg into the world’s largest and most important international gathering for the refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pump community. “We are very satisfied with Chillventa 2016. The display area grew significantly yet again and attracted even more trade visitors to Nuremberg. A total of 982 companies from all over the world showcased their products and services to 32,206 visitors. The “Chillventa Connecting Experts” motto lived up to its promise at the world’s leading fair for the sector. Two-thirds of exhibitors came from outside Germany and the international visitor contingent stood at 56 percent, reflecting the outstanding commitment to this event by the industry worldwide. This makes Chillventa one of the most international events hosted by NürnbergMesse,” explains Richard Krowoza, Member of the Management Board, NürnbergMesse.

The comprehensive range of products, precisely tailored to the needs of market participants, offered an excellent and in-depth overview of the industry and featured components, systems and applications for refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation and heat pumps. Some of the key issues explored by this year’s exhibition, Chillventa CONGRESS and forums included current climate targets, ecological design, efficiency through controls and innovation in heat transfer. In this context refrigerants also play an important role.

Know-how for experts: Chillventa CONGRESS

The “Chillventa Connecting Experts” theme is not just embodied in the exhibition halls but is also reflected in the supporting programme.

Dr Rainer Jakobs, coordinator of the Chillventa supporting programme, once again ensured that the 260 delegates from 31 countries who attended the pre-fair Chillventa CONGRESS and the participants in the various forums were provided with comprehensive information of the highest professional standard.

“The international refrigeration sector discussed topics such as climate targets and climate policy, trends in household appliance refrigeration, the organic Rankine cycle, EPEE gapometer, market surveillance and high-temperature heat pumps, to name just a few.”

Professional expertise in the exhibition halls

The forums offered more than 180 presentations on the latest product developments, innovations and applications. Energy efficiency, energy savings and refrigerants were discussed in hall 9 (applications, training and codes of practice), hall 7 focused on refrigeration technology and the forum in hall 4A explored air conditioning, ventilation and heat pumps. Numerous presentations by experts provided professional expertise at its finest and the opportunity to explore specific topics in-depth.

The main issues discussed included new refrigerant mixes and their applications, safety aspects, safe and hygienic operation of cooling towers, the Internet of Things (IoT), or R744 in the training of skilled workers. The large number of visitors taking part in the forums showed that there was a lot of interest in these topics.

The No. 1 international industry gathering for visitors and exhibitors

Chillventa, along with the Chillventa CONGRESS and forums, has become one of the most international events to be held at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. In recent years the event has increasingly attracted more international visitors and exhibitors, and this year was no exception. “This is the No. 1 meeting place for the industry,” says Daniela Heinkel, Exhibition Director Chillventa.

New sponsor

Chillventa is now not just the platform where trade visitors and exhibiting companies meet and share knowledge, it is also a drawcard for all the major industry associations as well as German and international journalists. NürnbergMesse announces that after the 2016 event the new sponsor will be VDKF – the Association of German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Companies.

Visitors very satisfied with Chillventa outcomes

The large number of decision-makers at this event underscores its importance. Eight out of ten trade visitors stated that they were involved directly, indirectly or in an advisory capacity in the purchasing or procurement processes at their companies. Around 95 percent of trade visitors were very satisfied or satisfied with the range of products on display at Chillventa. The fact that nine out of ten visitors stated that they would come to the next Chillventa in 2018 shows how committed the industry is to this event.

Exhibitors satisfied with Chillventa 2016

Once again, there was a great mood in the packed exhibition halls at Chillventa among both trade visitors and exhibiting companies. All parties got to meet exactly the kind of people they needed. This positive outlook was also reinforced by the independent exhibitor poll, in which 93 percent of exhibiting companies stated that the event had been a success for them. Around 94 percent were able to forge new business contacts and nine out of ten companies expected follow-on business from the event. Even before the fair was over, 88 percent of exhibitors said they would be back in 2018.

Special presentations impressed industry insiders

As well as the innovations at exhibitor stands, the event once again impressed with three special presentations on energy-efficient computing centres, heat pumps for industrial and commercial applications and energy audits for AC and ventilation systems. Interest was huge and further underpinned the “Chillventa Connecting Experts” concept. For more information on the special presentations please go to: www.chillventa.de/programme
