Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, 10 November 2016 – Heads of national refrigeration assocations and Montreal Protocol focal points from 11 Central Asian and Caucasus countries enhance ozone layer protection and sustainable management of climate gases: The experts shared highlights, challenges and lessons learnt from the implementation of their respective hydrochlorofluoro carbon (HCFC) phase-out strategies and from the surveys on ozone-friendly alternatives during the thematic meeting in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, 8-10 November 2016.

Ozone hole 2016 back to normal

The 2016 Antarctic Ozone Hole size reached 23 million km2, 5 million km2 smaller than the record 2015 hole, whose larger size was due to colder-than-average temperatures in the stratosphere, while warmer temperatures were encountered this year.

Daikin confirms Solvay refrigerants purchase

Daikin says its acquisition of Solvay’s European refrigerants business will boost sales to €230m by 2018.The deal reported to be worth around €22m gives the Japanese company, best known in the West as an air conditioning manufacturer, its first refrigerant manufacturing base in Europe.
